change is good!
Being a newlywed is wonderful, don't get me wrong! But not only do I need to change over my social security card, drivers license, debit card, checks, passport, etc... I get to change my blog as well! But it's all exciting stuff... these little things just remind me that I belong to my beloved and that is definitely a wonderful thing to be reminded of.
So check it out! It's www.brittanystrebeck.blogspot.com

Tis the season...
for some Texas Tech football, that is.
Now, I'm not going to try to use sports lingo or talk Tech stats or anything - I'll leave that up to my husbo - but I do love me some football. Not as much as Jordan though... In fact, the other day I woke up to some very powerful Braveheart-like music coming from the other room. I walk in only to find Jordan watching Tech football highlights from last year with a giddy little smile on his face. And it's even cuter that Jordan specifically woke up early so he could watch it before church. Simply adorable, I tell you.
Anyhow, Jordan is the recruiting editor for RedRaiderSports.com and that means I get to take photos! I don't have much experience in sports photography, so it's been fun to learn... not only technical aspects of photography, but to learn the players and their positions and whatnot. So now when Jordan gets all pumped about football and starts rattling off players and positions, I halfway know what he's talking about... Hooray!

strebecks are fun
This week, I've been training to be a Starbucks barista. I think I just like calling myself a barista because it sounds cool and semi-important. But really, come to 4th and slide if you want a cup o joe... it's pretty fun getting to serve coffee and talk to people all day long.
The week ended perfectly with a day at the lake. I'm tellin you - the combination of amazing family, super duper husbo, a precious kid named avery and lots o water with a boat all make for a pretty fun day. Here are some shots from our little get-away! Ya know, the more times I have like this, the more I am reminded of God's grace... I sure don't deserve all this, but God is sure good :)

I'm still alive... promise.
Well, a lot has changed since I last posted! For starters, I am now Brittany Lauren Strebeck! Yes, I am a married woman and married life has been absolutely wonderful. We got married at Spirit Ranch in Lubbock July 14... go to www.brittanyandjordan.com to check out Kristin Bednarz's amazing work.
Then we went to Mexico for our honeymoon! It really was a wonderful time... complete with passport problems, Mexican bus rides, puking, diarhea, flying ants and no running water for a day. It was humorous to say the least :) and Jordan and I were VERY excited to be back in Lubbock. Home... such a beautiful thing.
Anyhow, so THAT'S what I've been up to, all while job searching and unpacking boxes. Life is so exciting!
And for you upcoming seniors, check out my senior pic info.

Laura + Brent
I must say, these little firecrackers were a blast to hang out with - they always are. We go way back.
Laura and I used to be youth interns together at Southcrest, so we've experienced everything from snorting pepper to cliff jumping... And Brent just gets sucked into all of it because these two are getting married in August! It's pretty special because Laura is a bridesmaid in my wedding in July, and I am one in hers. Too cool. Anyway.
These kiddos couldn't stop laughing... I think that says a lot about their relationship, too :)

da barbershops
Welp, here is what I've been working on for the past month or so. In my portfolio class, I chose to do a documentary on eastside barbershops in Lubbock... SO MUCH FUN! I did get some interesting looks and hesitant participants, but after spending lots o time with these peeps, they started warming up to me and realized what I was doing.
And this is why I chose the barbershop deal...
During my freshman year we went to E's barbershop to get some braids ( i'm still not sure why we did that...) and while we were there, we realized that people who go to barbershops on the eastside have a stinkin good time. It's a social place. People go there after work or after school just to hang out, whether they're getting their hair cut or not. It just fascinated me. So, that led me to this portfolio! And after people realized that I had good intentions and I just loved the way they live life together, the tall white girl stopped getting dirty looks and now we're all friends :)

jolly jenny
I tell you what... This girl is one of the most laid-back, fun loving, Christ following girls I know. This is Jenny, and during the past three years of knowing her, I have been reminded to enjoy life more.
Here are some shots from our little fun-in-the-sun-session...my attempt at senior pics :)

here goes nothin!
hello to all you bloggers out there! (see, I already feel like a nerd)
I've got to admit... It has taken me quite some time to actually sign up for this blogspot dealy and I'll tell you all why.
I like to journal quite a bit. And when I run out of pages in a journal, all these new thoughts about my new journal come into play... what kind, what size, lines or no lines... (I'm not OCD, I swear). So, when I finally begin writing in my new journal, I freak myself out by thinking I'm turning over this new leaf in the life of Brittany Schultze, when really... I just ran out of paper.
I say that to say this. Maybe I view this too much as a documentation of the depths of my soul, when really... It's just a fun way to share my work with all of you! And that, my friends, is what I'm pretty stoked about. I have been bigtime encouraged by photographers in and around Lubbock, and looking at their blogs and viewing their latest work pumps me up and just makes me want to shoot.
So... my goal? Well, I could only hope that my work and my words might stir the excitement within peeps and that their appreciation for life and beauty would deepen as I attempt to capture it with my neglected, abused camera.
With that said, I think I'll just post some photos from this summer. I went to Guanajuato, Mexico on a travel photography trip with Texas Tech. We were set loose in the city for ten days and we shot our faces off. It was... freeing! and if you have any tips, send 'em my way! enjoy :)
